Cedar Grove ES Read-A-Thon

We are bringing the Annual Read-A-Thon BACK to Cedar Grove!

Our school Read-A-Thon will run from Tuesday, January 16th - January 30th, and is sure to be a fun and exciting event. Information packets should be sent home with your child this afternoon. The Read-A-Thon is a fundraising event for the PTA. It will be based on pledges going towards your child reading. It's straight dollar amount pledges vs money/minute. 100% of funds will go back to the school for grade level field trips!

Now, for the really GOOD part...the fundraising is great for the school, but it doesn't get the kids EXCITED to read (which is what it's all about), so we are holding a contest between grade levels to see who logs the most minutes/reader. The winning grade level will win a MOVIE & PIZZA PARTY!

...PLUS BRAGGING RIGHTS!

...PLUS A TROPHY TO DISPLAY IN THE CLASSROOMS!

But don't worry, you don't have to log the minutes on your child's Dashboard, we'll do it for you. Just have them fill out their paper timesheet logs and turn them in during our 3 check-in dates...

Stay tuned for opportunities to earn BONUS minutes throughout the TWO WEEKS. They will be announced on the Morning News at school, our PTA Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp...so be on the lookout.

We are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free.

Spirit Night at Papa Johns

When: Tuesday, January 9th - January 10th (2 FULL DAYS!)

What: Join us for our first Spirit Night of 2024! Click HERE to view the flyer. Orders can be placed over the phone or in the restaurant, just make sure you mention Cedar Grove ES! You can place online orders using code CEDARGROVE.

Papa Johns is donating 20% of proceeds back to Cedar Grove!

Read Aloud Night

This event is a CGES tradition that our students love and we're so happy that Mrs. Hirschhorn is bringing it back again.

When: Thursday, January 25th 6:00PM - 7:00PM

What: Students come to the school in their PJ's and enjoy a Read Aloud with some of our CGES Staff. Click HERE for more information!

Winter Music Concert

When: Tuesday, January 16th 7:00PM

What: Come out and support our Cedar Grove 5th Grade Chorus, Band, and Orchestra during their Winter Concert. Students should report at 6PM wearing white on top and black on the bottom.

Family Paint Night

When: Friday, February 23rd 6:30PM

What: Back by popular demand...the PTA will be hosting a Family Paint Night again this year featuring our Special Guest Star, Mrs. Kim! Mrs. Kim will offer step by step instruction to help create your MASTERPIECE! There are ONLY 100 seats available, so click HERE to reserve your spot!

STEM Night and Science Expo

The Science Expo is BACK! Get your thinking caps on if you think you'll want to participate. We will also have vendors demonstrating all the different parts that make up STEM! Be on the lookout for more information in the future!

We have another sessions of After School Clubs COMING SOON! Please check the site regularly for updates. Registration links will added in the coming days. With such a wide variety of activities, there should be something for everyone. Sign up early to ensure a spot for your child. :-) ENJOY!

We collect Yearbook photos all year long! If you would like to contribute photos from throughout the year, you can use this link. Photos should be from school related events ONLY . Cell phone quality pictures are FINE!

We are a stronger community when all families and staff join and actively participate in the PTA. Upon purchasing/renewing a family membership, you'll receive a FREE CGES tote bag. Staff members who join/renew will receive $100 towards class materials.
