PTA Membership

There are many benefits to your family, and our school if you join the Cedar Grove Elementary School PTA. We are a stronger community when all families participate in the PTA. The PTA is a great way for parents, teachers, and staff to enrich the experience of all our students. Being a member of the PTA allows you to be involved within the school community. Parent involvement is a key factor in your child’s educational success.

A membership to the PTA costs $25 per family. Your membership fee includes the following:

(1)  Voting rights on all matters related to the Cedar Grove ES PTA, including where PTA raised funds should be spent.
(2)  Access to the online Cedar Grove ES School Directory

(3)  Two votes in PTA legislative activities

(4)  Membership to Montgomery County PTA (MCCPTA), FreeState PTA (FSPTA), and the National PTA. 

Mandatory dues for these organizations are $10.50 per family, which are taken out of the membership fee.  The rest of your PTA membership fee (approximately $15) goes directly to supporting ALL staff and students through PTA-sponsored activities. We help provide programs, supplies, equipment, and technology requested by staff to enhance the curriculum at Cedar Grove. We also support activities that enhance your child’s educational experience, including Cultural Arts Assemblies, Around the World Night, and much more.

The PTA also sponsors a number of community-building events like the Back-to-School Picnic, Color Run, Family Bingo Night, and more.

Monies raised through the membership fee only cover about 15% of the costs for programs, supplies, and activities covered by the PTA. That is why donations and fundraising are such a vital part of supporting the PTA and Cedar Grove ES.

Each year, only about half of Cedar Grove ES families become PTA members but we would love to see more families join!

MAKE A DONATION
Membership dues account for less than 15% of our annual budget. Each year we run a direct donation campaign to help us fill the gap. The CGES PTA is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and your donation may be tax-deductible. 100% of donations go to help our children and our school. Receipts can be provided upon request, and all contribution information will be kept confidential.

ADVERTISE IN OUR SCHOOL DIRECTORY
In the fall, the PTA publishes its annual directory of students and distributes it to PTA members. The directory is a vital resource used throughout the school year. Therefore, ads placed in the directory are viewed year-round! In addition, an ad in the directory shows our community that your business supports our school!  Thanks for your support!

PURCHASE GOODS AND SERVICES FROM VENDORS WHO SUPPORT THE PTA
Numerous businesses provide financial support to the PTA when you patronize their establishments. When you patronize a business that advertises in the Cedar Grove Calendar or the Student Directory, remember to mention that you saw their ad.
